Best Beaches in Cancún's Hotel Zone — Ranked 2026

Cancún has 14 named beaches across its Hotel Zone. This ranking considers swimming conditions, public access, crowds, facilities, and what each beach is genuinely best for.

1. Playa Delfines — the honest best

Kilometer 17.5. The widest beach in the zone with no resort blocking access. Large public parking, bathrooms, and consistent waves good for bodysurfing. The Caribbean blue here is at its most vivid. Always free.

2. Playa Tortugas — best for families

Kilometer 6.5. Sheltered by the bay, water calm enough for children to swim safely. Beach clubs on both sides with chair rentals and food. Gets crowded by 10am during peak season — arrive early.

3. Playa Langosta — underrated central option

Kilometer 5. Tucked between hotels, with solid public access, calmer water than central beaches, and far fewer crowds than Tortugas. Sunsets here face the lagoon side — often more colorful than Caribbean-facing beaches.

4. Playa Chac-Mool — most convenient, most crowded

Kilometer 10. Default beach for most Hotel Zone visitors. Well-run beach clubs. Moderate water conditions — swimmable, but occasional strong current advisories November through February.

5. Playa Marlín — for beach club access

Kilometer 13. Home to several of Cancún's major beach clubs. Best if you're planning a beach club day specifically. Water is rougher than northern beaches and public shoreline is limited.

6. Playa Nizuc — best for snorkeling access

Kilometer 21. Closest public beach to the Punta Nizuc coral reef system. Water is clearer than anywhere else in the Hotel Zone. Trade-off: 35+ minutes by bus from the central zone.

What to watch for

All Hotel Zone beaches are technically public under Mexican law, but resort staff can be aggressive about limiting access to beachfront chairs. Avoid any beach during Semana Santa or Spring Break (March–April) if crowds bother you.
